Carmen Gibson

VERONA/WILTON – Carmen Sue Gibson, age 56, passed away under hospice care, after a brief illness, on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Carmen was born on September 17, 1969, in Madison, WI, to James and Mary (Versnik) Gibson. She graduated from Verona High School in 1987. Carmen was a banker at Ergo Bank at the Norwalk branch. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Carmen enjoyed making crafts, swimming, kayaking, traveling, taking photos of the outdoors, and fishing with her Dad and nephew. The customers at her bank always gravitated to her because of her knowledge, beautiful smile, and the sincere care she provided. Carmen especially loved kids, including her nephew, nieces, siblings, and her beloved little dog, Coal. Carmen cared so much for others and always put their needs first. She laughed at her own jokes, somehow making a bad joke funny. Carmen touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Carmen is survived by her parents; siblings, Kelly (Doug) Hanson and Jerod; nephew, Jay Hanson; nieces, Sophie Gibson and Arianna Miller; aunts/uncle, Judy Braaksma, Cindy (Michael) Cummings, Debbie Versnik; and Godmother, Brenda Cullen. She is preceded in death by her uncle, Steve Versnik; and cousin, Mike Ranney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 7, 2026, St. Andrew Catholic Church, 301 N. Main St, Verona. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of Mass on Friday at the church. Burial at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
