Obituary
Janette H. (Schara) Hermanson, age 80, passed away on August 2, 2026, in Queens Creek, Arizona after a short battle with cancer. She was born on October 3, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Fred “Doc” and Edna (Michels) Schara.
Janette graduated from East High School in 1964 and later earned an associate's degree in architecture from Madison Area Technical College (MATC) in 1978.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, now part of Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Parish. Janette was also an active member of the Madison Women's Club, the Council of Catholic Women, the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Friends of Schumacher Farm Park, the Madison Knitters Guild, and St. John's Peacemakers. Janette found joy in knitting, sewing, gardening, and reading. She will be remembered for her dedication to her faith, her service to her community.
Janette is survived by her daughters Michelle (Art Fischer) Hermanson and Jane (Anthony) Andrashie; her grandchildren Abbigail and Bryce (Taylor) Andrashie; sister Jane (Veikko) Kuronen; and many special nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her step son Morris Hermanson and Jane’s best friend Jodi Krause.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Edna; and her infant sister, JoAnn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Rd, Waunakee. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass . A burial will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church school hall following the services.
