Obituary

Rick A. Martingilio, age 74, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on May 9, 1952, in Beloit, Wisconsin to parents Leo and Cheryl Martingilio.

Rick graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1970 and later completed the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Program with Wisconsin Power and Light, now Alliant Energy. Rick worked as an Engineering Technician for 44 years of dedicated service to Alliant Energy and its customers before retiring in 2016.

He found joy in his many hobbies including golfing, woodworking, gardening, sketching, roasting coffee beans and fixing things, but most of all spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered by many for his eagerness to lend a hand and ability to fix everything and anything, with many reminiscing of times they needed to know something, fix something or find a solution to a problem. The common theme was “Ask Rick”.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Pamela James to whom he was married for 27 years, son Christopher (Diana) Martingilio from Stoughton, daughter Brenda (Nathan) Murray from New Freedom, Pennsylvania; step-daughters Rosalyn James (Nicholas Bruckner) from Rubicon and Rachel Bladorn (Aaron) from Sun Prairie; grandchildren Mitchell, Megan and Marcus Martingilio, Macy and Camden Benisch, Trevor and Zach Traino, Sawyer Bladorn along with great grandson Anders Martingilio and great granddaughter Bexley Traino. He is further survived by his sister Judi Skaar (Gary), Kathy Martingilio (Leonard Hahn), brother-in-law Alan Erickson (Trish), sister in-law Barbara Poch (Charles), brother-in-law Terry Erickson (Barbara), Aunt Mary Lou (Ira) Alpert, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Cheryl Martingilio and his daughter Melissa Martingilio.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home and Legacy Center, 6728 Mader Dr, Madison. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

You were the best neighbor - especially to our dog, Toby! You always had a bag of treats in your garage, so if your garage door was open, Toby would fling himself down in your driveway until you appeared and gave him a treat. You were so kind. Thank you.

My sincere condolences to Pam and Rick’s family. Rick and I began our friendship before we started kindergarten at Gaston school. Later we both worked at WP&L (Alliant Energy), riding our motorcycles to Southern Area. Rick was a hard worker and next to his family, he loved golf! He will be missed, Rest in Peace my friend!
