Linda Lorenz

Linda M. (Cook) Lorenz, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on October 13, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1954, in Dodgeville, WI, to Roscoe and Bernadine (Straka) Cook. Linda grew up in Montfort, WI, and graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1972 before attending Fennimore Technical College. On June 3, 1978, Linda married Alan Lorenz at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort, and together they raised two sons, Joe and Danny. Linda worked at CUNA Mutual Insurance for more than 40 years before her retirement.

Of all the roles Linda held throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a mother. She often said that raising her two sons was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. Linda enjoyed watching movies and TV shows, spending time with her family, and appreciating the simple things in life. She was known for her love of everything blue and the joy she found in watching the birds visit her feeders, especially the hummingbirds. Above all, Linda cherished her family and the time they spent together.

Linda's life was also marked by remarkable strength and perseverance throughout her health journey. Following a lung transplant, she faced numerous challenges with resilience and determination. Her transplant gave her additional years with the people she loved, years that her family will always treasure. Her journey was made possible through the generosity of organ donation and the dedication of the many healthcare professionals who supported her along the way.

Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Al; her sons, Joe and Danny (Antonella); grandson, Luca; sisters, Rita (John) Rice and Brenda (Rich) Williams; brother, Gerard Cook; sister-in-law, Beth Cook; and her extended Lorenz family, along with many other beloved relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Berg; brother-in-law, Jerry Berg; and brother, Greg Cook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, WI, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Ryan Funeral Home & Legacy Center, 6728 Mader Drive, Madison, WI, as well as at church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
