Lyle Shallberg

Lyle David Shallberg, age 87, passed away at home on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was born to David H. and Hazel R. (Chaney) Shallberg. Lyle was born on September 4, 1938, in Cedar County, Nebraska. He graduated from Wausa High School and Norfolk Junior College. Lyle married JoAnne Eckmann on February 11, 1960.

Lyle farmed in Cedar County Nebraska where he grew up on the farm raised and showed Poland China pigs. He later moved to Iowa to farm and later back to Bloomfield Nebraska where he managed the Knox County Pig Coop and raised quarter horses for many years. Lyle made many great friends over the years. He later retired in 2004. In 2004 Lyle moved to Windsor, Wisconsin where he helped raise his twin grandchildren. They kept him busy during his retirement years with many sporting events. 

Lyle will be remembered for his gentle heart, unwavering strength, and the love he shared with family and friends. He had the best smile—one that would light up whenever he saw you. Lyle was always so happy to see you, and you knew it. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.

Lyle is survived by his wonderful wife of 66 years, JoAnne Eckmann; daughters, Deb Hofer of Windsor WI, Karen (Darwin) Seagren of Wausa NE, Carmen Bodden of Yankton SD, Connie Kathol of Omaha NE, Tammy Shallberg and Keith Holmes of Deforest WI, and Dean (Lara) Shallberg of Prescott AZ; grandchildren, Ashley Bodden Seagren, Kiley Bodden, Andrew Kathol, Dylan Kathol, Sister Mary of resurrection (Devon), Amber Markham, Codi Hofer, Stone Shallberg, Svea Shallberg, Sonni Barry, Peyton and Parker Holmes; great grandchildren, Bianca Seagren, Madison and Gabriel Kathol, Brayden & Carson Weatherly, Kennick & Autumn Miller, Jaxon Capella, Evalyn and Archer Hofer and many other nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by many family members and Hazel & David, sister Lorraine, Leola, Gerald, Alice Lenore. 

A celebration of life will be followed at a later date.

Cremation is done by Ryan Funeral Home in Deforest WI.
