Shirley Wolter

DeForest - Shirley M. Wolter, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Waunakee Valley Senior Living in Waunakee, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1937, in Milwaukee, WI, the beloved daughter of Henry and Norma (Hermanson) Steckel.

She married the love of her life, Franklin G. Wolter, on February 13, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together they raised their five children: Daniel Wolter of Alpharetta, GA; Debra (Paul) Hunter of Summit Lake; Tami McNamee; Troy Wolter of Sun Prairie; and Kellie (Eric) Daugherty of Sun Prairie.

Shirley was a kind, loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She was a strong lady and the rock of the family. Shirley was a kind soul who in her free time volunteered at Agrace Hospice and offered a helping hand in the community. She loved socializing and playing cards with her friends at Parkside Senior Living Community, and she especially loved spending time with her family who meant so much to her.

Shirley is survived by her loving children, Daniel, Debra, Troy and Kellie; twelve grandchildren: Faith (Trevor), Dillon (Virginia), Nicholas (Jilian), Dustin (Christina), Adam (Stephanie), Brandon, Chad (Morgen), Dana, Kyle, Austin (Cedar), Kristi and Alex; great-grandchildren, Jerzey, Izzy, Leann, Grace, Madilyn, Mason, Rodger, Reed, Avery, Janiyha and baby Cedar; special niece, Brittney (Joe) of East Troy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Wolter; her daughter, Tami McNamee; great grandson, Preston; her parents, Henry and Norma, and siblings Susan Trampe, Christine Peterson, Carl Steckel.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Agrace Hospice for their care and support of Shirley.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Rd, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of service.
