George "Geo" Prince

George “Geo” Anthony Prince, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

George was born on December 30, 1939, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to George and Julia (Medizer) Prince. He graduated from Fenton High School in Bensenville, Illinois, in 1958.

From a young age, George had a natural love for cars. As a teenager, he drove a panel truck, delivered groceries, and detailed automobiles before attending trade school to learn auto body repair and painting. He became known as one of the best painters in the area, taking great pride in his work and in the craftsmanship he brought to every job.

George served in the United States Army after volunteering for the draft. He was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, where he learned teletype and worked as a radio operator, a role he enjoyed and adapted to quickly. After his military service, George put his extensive knowledge of cars to work in the auto insurance industry, where he built a career in claims and estimates.

George met Karen Andersen in 1965 and the two quickly fell in love. On May 28, 1966, they were married. George and Karen shared 60 years of marriage and built a life centered on love, family, and commitment. Together, they raised their three children, Michael, Joseph, and Jennifer.

The family moved from their first home in Cicero, Illinois, to Poynette, Wisconsin, where George became a proud member of the community. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Poynette for more than 20 years, giving his time and care to the place he called home.

Above all, George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of old westerns, his lifelong passion for all things auto, his outstanding dog-walking skills, and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those who loved him.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Heather and the team at Agrace Hospice, as well as Dawn, Christine, and the nurses and staff at Dove Healthcare, for their care, compassion, and kindness to George during his final months.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Julia Prince; in-laws, Alyce and Frank Miller; brother-in-law, Jim Andersen; and infant daughter, Katheryn.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; sons, Michael (Amy) and Joseph (Eileen); daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Turek; and grandchildren, Lucas, Annika, Jonathan, Benjamin, and Samuel.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. A private burial will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery in Poynette.
