Obituary

Madison - Daniel “Dan” J. Feisst, aka: “The Feisster”, age 65, passed away on September 8, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by his family after a sudden heart attack. He was born on August 9, 1961, in Madison, the son of Gerald and Pauline (Haack) Feisst. Dan graduated from MATC and received a degree in Graphic Design.

Dan met the love of his life, Jim Bonneau, in 2002 at the Rainbow Room. When Dan turned the handle of the door and walked in, the hair on Jim’s neck stood straight up. In 2003, Dan and Jim made a move to LaCrosse, Wisconsin where they lived for 12 years before moving back to Madison to be closer to their parents. They decided to purchase their retirement condo with a view of the capital. Dan went to work for Milwaukee Tool while Jim went to work for the Alexander Company. Dan Married Jim on December 13, 2014.

Dan loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and was always on the floor playing with them. Dan had an eye for design and enjoyed designing a beautiful home for Jim and himself. He enjoyed his short retirement. Dan and Jim took a couple of vacations and Dan even got to experience combining beans in Nebraska. Dan was a wonderful caregiver, taking care of Jim during his recent illness.

Dan is survived by his husband, Jim Bonneau; siblings, Debbie Botham and Ted (Denise) Feisst; six beloved nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Pauline Feisst; sister, Jerilyn “Jeri” Derr; and brother-in-law, Tom Botham.

The goodbye came sooner than I thought, and opposite the plan, It was I who was first to leave, not my beloved Dan. Always fashionable to a “T”, This loved by all sweet man. Now silenced his spirit of happiness, And his voice like soothing sand. We’d recently cried over stopping the fight and simply try to live, In our home and in each others arms where we’d both had so much to give. But fate came knocking unexpectedly and stole my love away, I can’t react, or breathe, or understand this strange new awful day. What purpose lies before me now? Only God knows what I’m to do. And how am I to know? He’s the last one I’m turning to. But, turn I will, and somehow I’ll let my anger be. For it’s through Him that I will find my love, it’s faith that holds the key. With family, friends, and strangers my days will be relieved, Until Dan and others will reunite, as I always have believed. 🦋

We knew Dan through our friends, Steve & Phil. What a loss. The Feisster always had a smile and could always make us laugh. Rest well.

My favorite childhood friend was Danny. Growing up next door to one another, we spent hours playing with Barbie dolls, dressing up in old prom dresses, joking, laughing and loving life. As our parents aged, we reconnected, and we picked up tight after we left off. Well, with the laughing and the joking, not with the Barbie’s and dress up!
