Robert Olson

Robert Olson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away from a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease on September 16, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on August 19, 1945, in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Bertram and Lewine (nee Amundson) Olson. Bob was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). He lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Jane Olson. He also leaves behind his loving daughters, Kristin Elerding and her husband Ryan, and Amy Olson. Bob was a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Elerding.   Other survivors include his in-laws Carol (Marvin) Eggert, Dave (Vicki) Petersen, and nephews Ben (Stacy) Carter, Tom (Leah) Carter.  

An avid card player, Bob was known for his passion for Aurora Rummy and cribbage, often engaging in friendly competitions with his family. He spent time weekly or whenever someone stopped by to play a game of Cribbage at Oakwood.  His love for classic cars was well-known, and he could often be found sharing his interests with those around him. Bob's granddaughters fondly remember the fun they had together, and all of their shenanigans

Bob's sense of humor and dry wit were hallmarks of his personality. He loved his family and was funny, loving, understanding, but most of all kind. 

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Oakwood Village Chapel, located at 5565 Tancho Dr. in Madison, Wisconsin. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor Bob's memory and the wonderful impact he had on their lives.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Interim Hospice. They were wonderful in helping Bob in his journey with dignity and grace. We are also grateful for the Seasons Staff and their commitment to Bob.  Memorials will be designated by the family. 

As we remember Bob, find comfort in the words of John 14:3: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am." Bob's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
