Elizabeth "Betty" Beale

Elizabeth "Betty" A. (Poppa) Beale, age 87, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg, WI. She was born on August 1, 1939, to Frances and Anna (McWilliams) Poppa in Darlington, WI. Betty married Richard “Rich” Beale on September 26, 1959, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison, WI.

Betty graduated from Edgewood High School and went on to attend St. Mary’s LPN School. She stayed home to raise her six children, dedicating herself to her family during those important years. Later, she returned to the workforce, where she worked at the UW Madison School of Nursing and managed the school’s print shop.

She was also a devoted caregiver, lovingly caring for Richard during the last few years of his life.

In her free time, she found joy in sewing and baking. Her dedication to her family, her caring nature, and the many lives she touched will be remembered and cherished.

Betty is survived by her children, William Beale, Robert (Laura) Beale, Barbara (Leslie) Lessmiller, Bobette Weiss; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Susan (Ron) Walz and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Richard; her parents; children, Elizabeth (Vaughn) Haley, Brian Beale; 2 grandchildren, Kayla Beale, Marcus Haley; great grandson, Beckam Neuman; 4 siblings, Frances (Judy) Poppa, Mary (Jim) Maxwell, Patricia Dayton, Thomas (Diane) Poppa.

The family would like to thank Agrace for the wonderful care they gave Betty.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert The Great Drive, Sun Prairie, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
