Obituary
Joyce Anne Klute, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 29, 2026.
Born September 13, 1936, she lived a beautiful life centered around the people she loved most. On June 29, 1955, she married Duane James Klute, and together they built a life and raised five children.
She was, quite simply, the most beautiful and amazing mom anyone could ever ask for. Her family was her greatest joy, and through the years that family grew to include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed to call her grandma.
She was loving, strong, kind and unforgettable. To know her was to know how deeply she loved her family and the many wonderful friends who became such an important part of her life.
Her life was a beautiful gift, and her love will remain with us forever. After more than eight years apart, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Duane – and perhaps they are polka dancing together once again.
She is survived by her five children: Pam Klute, Kim (Perry) Custer, Kevin (Ada) Klute, Michelle “Chel” (Brian) Buttchen, Tracy (Shel) Klute, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephew.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Howard and Evelyn Nedderman; her sister, Jane Peterson; her nephews Michael Peterson and Tim Klute; and great-grandchild, Cadillac Custer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at SSM Health for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they showed her during her final hours. Your gentle care and support meant more to our family than words can express. Also, a special thanks to the Madison Fire Department and Ambulance Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Park Glen Commons, 201 N. Walbridge Ave, Madison, WI on Saturday, October 24th from 1PM - 3PM.
