Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kristine “Kris” Greenya, age 79, who passed away peacefully at her home in DeForest on October 1, 2026.
Kris was born on September 22, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to James Champion Sr. and Bette (Vorphal). She married James “Jim” Greenya on June 29, 1968, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Milwaukee. They later moved to DeForest, where they built the home where they lived for the past 48 years.
Kris was devoted to her family and had a unique gift for making everyone around her feel loved and valued. She cherished family gatherings, particularly around Christmas, loved garage sales, and was a passionate fan of Wisconsin sports and her grandchildren's activities.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her four sons, Bobby (Maire), Tommy (Debbie), Timmy, and Mikey; her nine grandchildren, Emma, Gaetano, Lauren, Connor, Jackson, Casey, Will, Max, and Brady; her brother, Tim (Gina) Champion; her sister-in-law, Sue Champion; her brother-in-law, Tim Greenya; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother James Russell Champion Jr.; sister-in-law Genie Teter; and brother-in-law John Greenya.
