Donna M Colby

Morrisonville, WI: Donna Mae (Thompson) Colby left this world on October 23, 2026 to begin her life with her Lord. Donna was born February 18, 1931 to Otis and Irene (Ihland) Thompson of Windsor, WI. She was the eldest of 3 children--Donna, Darrell and Deborah.

Donna graduated from DeForest High School. In 1949, she married Charles Colby and made their life in Morrisonville, WI. They had four children--Gary, Karen, Constance and Dawn.

Donna was a busy home-maker, never being idle. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and hobbies including camping, traveling, curling and card playing. She was always active in her church and her faith was important to her. She was a life-long member of United in Christ Lutheran Church in Morrisonville.

Donna also began working outside the home. She did secretarial work at the University of Wisconsin Experimental Farms and later worked her way up to Branch Manager for Home Savings and Loan. She traveled from coast to coast, from Canada, Hawaii, Alaska to Florida. When retired, she and Chuck traveled more and spent many years at their beloved Chippewa Flowage cabin they built together. She took a special trip to Norway with her siblings. Donna always stayed active. She eventually left Morrisonville to spend her final years back in the Windsor area at The Legacy where she was entertained and well cared for until her final day.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Irene Thompson, her husband Chuck of 59 years, her brother Darrell and wife Carol, her brother-in-law Terry Nelson and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She leaves behind many who loved her including her four children, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Those families include: Gary and Sandy Colby; Whitney and Erik Colby-Schultz and son Bjorn; Shawna and Toni DiFiore and Logan, Peyton; and Sarah and Ryan Kowald. Karen Colby; Paul Spangler and his children Colby Jean and Jeremy; Bryan and Jill Spangler and daughters Kailin and Kristin. Connie and Layne Quamme; Morgan and Scott Olson and sons Holden, Leo, Finn; Gavin and Alexa Quamme and children Kylo and Myla. Dawn and Dennis Stephenson; Drew and Cody Kaltenberg and daughter Mackenzie; Taylor Stephenson and fiancé Keith Smart, Jr.

She leaves behind her sister Deborah Thompson-Nelson and daughter Ashlee and Cooper Manthei and daughters Addison and Lucie.

She also leaves behind her niece Deanna Thompson and partner Kelly Jo, and her nephew Bradley and Mary Thompson and daughters Leah and Erin.

When you have lived to 95, you've said Good Bye to so many.

She will be deeply missed and never, ever forgotten.
