Beth Lumina

Beth P. Lumina: April 7, 1953 - October 27, 2026

Beth P. Lumina, age 73, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born on April 7, 1953, in Madison to William "Bill" and Agnes Paynter. Beth graduated from La Follette High School and worked in retail, for Dean Health Plan, and Navitus Health Solutions where she retired. On October 8th, 1982, she married Robert "Bob" Lumina, also of Madison, and they had two children, Alix and Tony.

Beth was a talented artist with a sharp sense of humor. She loved birds and cats, and taking long walks around downtown Madison and Olbrich Gardens. You would often find her visiting art museums, and the Art Fair on the Square. She could always tell you about a good book she was reading.

When her kids were younger, Beth loved spending summers at her parents' lake cottage "up north" with her family. Every Labor Day weekend, she participated in the informal bowling tournament that pitted the "in-laws" against the "outlaws."

Beth is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Alix (Jake); son, Tony (Mayumi); and her brothers, Frank (Beth Ann) and David (Kathleen). She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Agnes Paynter; and her in-laws, Lawrence and Mary Lumina.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 22nd at Ryan Funeral Home. More information to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dane County Humane Society, in honor of Beth's love for cats and rescuing animals.
