Obituary
MADISON – Norman P. Bryhan, age 87, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, with his family at his side. Norm was born on Feb. 28, 1927, in Beetown, to Elmer and Alice (McDonald) Bryhan, and grew up in Lancaster.
He served in the U.S. Army during the World War II era and was a Golden Gloves Boxer during his time in the service. On Dec. 25, 1948, he married Ruth Rogers. He graduated from Madison Business College and went on to work for Olson and Esser Glass Companies, spent many years as a salesman and eventually district manager of the La Crosse area for AAA, and retired from Rayovac. Norm was also a published author in National Geographic Magazine.
He is survived by his three sons, Timothy (Anita), Patrick (Patricia), and Michael (Carla) Bryhan; nine grandchildren, Charles (Catherine), Alena (fiancAC. Dan Caple), Benjamin (Becky), Nathan, Kelly (Andrew) Barnes, Jay, Jamie (Michael) Landsman, Joel, and Jenna (Sean) Klimek; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Renee, Keira, Marisa, Makenna, and Breeja, and another due in March. He is further survived by his sister, Gladys Lang; and sister-in-law, Sharon Bryhan .
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Ruth; his daughter, Susan; brothers, Elmer, Eldon, Dale, Donald, and Ralph; and sister, Evelyn Bertram.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., at 12 noon, with Pastor Carl Olson officiating. Visitation will be held starting at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Lancaster at a later date.
