John Pickett

MADISON – John M. “Jack” Pickett, age 61, died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, in Madison. He was born on April 6, 1953, in Madison, the son of Raymond and Eileen (Loring) Pickett.

Jack grew up in Madison with his six brothers and two sisters. As a youngster he loved baseball. In 1965, he played with the State Champions. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1971. Jack worked for his father, Ray, at the Texaco Service Station. In 1982, Jack and Tom bought the station from Ray and ran it for another 15 years. After that he worked in food service for Upstairs/Downstairs Catering. Jack was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his mother, Eileen; siblings, Gary (Kathy) of Madison, Lee (Denise Allen) of Huntington Beach, Calif., Scott (Kathleen) of Irvine, Calif., Larry of Middleton, Tom of Verona, Mary Jane (Dave) Copper of Naples, Fla., and Marlene (Troy) Pauls of Naples, Fla.; 18 nieces and nephews; special friend, Kristi Pfeil; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray; brother, Jim; sister-in-law, Debra; and nephew, Jesse Pickett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2131 Rowley Ave., Madison, with Father Steve Kuhlmann officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, Madison, and also from 12 p.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Edgewood High School or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
