Robert Stevens

SUN PRAIRIE – Robert L. “Bob” Stevens, age 68, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. He was born in Madison on Dec. 7, 1946, the son of Rudolph and Lorraine (Nesvig) Stevens.

Bob graduated from East High School in 1965 and served in the Coast Guard from 1967 to 1972. He operated Stevens Grocery Store until 1978, then opening Stevens Bar and Eatery until 2003. He was an avid hockey enthusiast, coaching both the Laker and Capitols hockey teams. He was inducted into the Madison Skating Hall of Fame in 1996, and in 2014, was inducted into the Madison Capitols Hall of Fame and was a member of the Wisconsin Badgers Blue Line Club. Bob enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers, as well as auto racing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their many activities and sports.

He is survived by his children, Rob (Elizabeth) of Glenview, Ill., and Sarah (Jamison) Rabbitt of Sun Prairie; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan and Autumn Stevens, and Logan, Landon and Tirzah Rabbitt; a sister, Marilyn (Richard) Blaschke of Middleton; and many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved dog “Fritz”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott; sisters, Delores Jensen and Alayne Macaulay; and a brother, Rudy L. Stevens.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2015, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., with the Rev. Bryan Peterson presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
