Obituary

Madison – Jack W. Adams, age 93, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on July 28, 1921 in Whatcheer, IA, the son of John and Grace (Cuddihy) Adams. Jack grew up in both Iowa and the Chicago area, but felt his life truly began when he entered into the U.S. Air Force and met his beloved wife, Dolores Miller. They were united in marriage on February 12, 1945. In his early years of married life, Jack worked as a mason and bartender. He and Dolores moved to Cross Plains to raise their family. In 1965 they moved to Madison where he began his career as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1987. Jack was a charter member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #245 of Cross Plains and the American Postal Workers Union. In retirement, Jack and Dolores enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Jack was known for his fantastic sense of humor and quick wit. He is survived by his children: Terry (Marie), Mike, Jacki (Brad Elliott), Tim (Sue) and Dee Ann (Larry Larson) Adams; grandchildren: Scott (Travis) Adams, Tina (Jason) Allen, Chris (Traci) Adams, Josh (Heather) Parsons and Ben (Crici) Parsons; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kyle, Ryan, Maddy, Mila and Sylvie Ann; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his parents and daughter, Marcia Adams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., with Msgr. Charles Schluter officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare Inc. or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Seth, Dr. Hyzer and Heather at Associated Physicians, his home health nurse, Meghan and the staff at Agrace HospiceCare. Also an extra special thanks to his neighbor, Myrt and the many other neighbors that were such a support to Jack. The family would also like to recognize the special bond he had with his God daughter, Vicki.
