Loc Tran

MADISON- Loc Quoc Tran, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He was born on July 28, 1935 to Bao Quoc Tran and Thoa Thi Tran, in Nam Dinh Province, Vietnam.

With his father passing when Loc was six years old, he was raised by his mother. In 1945, Loc and his family settled in Saigon. In 1957, Loc graduated from Petrus Ky High School. He married to the love of his life, Anh Thi Tran, on January 7, 1960 in Saigon. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years.

After graduation from high school, Loc worked as a clerk until 1975. Later, he started his own business as a craftsman. In 2013, Loc and his wife came to live with their son in the United States.
Loc was a loving father whose utmost interest was to see his children getting a good education. His children's success and happiness meant the world to him. Even when the family was struggling with economic hardships, he always ensured that his children have access to good educational resources: the children were allowed to build their own library with the modest earnings of his business. Of his children and their families, three have doctorate degrees and all have at least a college degree. At the end of his life, he was happy to see his legacy live on in his grandchildren, who are attending the most prestigious schools in the world. Loc was a humble, knowledgeable and thoughtful individual. While fluent in Vietnamese and French, he continued working hard to improve his English. He was a generous and selfless father, who never complained about any hardships and sufferings that he endured to his children to the last day of his life. With his passing, Loc will be remembered as a father whose life is synonymous to his children's and grandchildren's successes. His legacy is honorable and forever memorable.

Loc is survived by his wife, Anh, his five children: Thuy, Hieu, Thuy, Thuy, and Hoc, his four grandchildren: Nhien, Hung, Vy and An, his brother Huong and wife Nguyen, his daughters-in-law: Nguyet and Lan, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters.
