Dorothy Kourie

Madison-Dorothy C. Kourie, age 82, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at University Hospital in Madison. She was born in Toronto, Canada on September 6, 1932, the daughter of Douglas and Margaret (Goode) Peacock. Dorothy was a professional dancer most of her life, after marriage she continued with her husband on the professional ballroom dance circuit. In 1984, she moved from Toronto to Madison to be closer to her family. Her first job in Madison was as concierge at the Concourse Hotel. Dorothy then moved onto sales at the Boston Store where she worked for 18 years until she retired. Most of her friends are people she worked with. After retirement, those relationships remained close.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Cherie "Melissa" Mutch; her son Steven White; grandchildren, Ian (Juliann) Mutch and Danielle (Cory) Niemuth; great-grandchildren, Owen Mutch, Abbey Mutch and Callum Mutch; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Douglas and James; and son-in-law Ian Mutch Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7pm on Monday, March 9, 2015, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, Madison. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5pm until the time of service.
