Gerald Disrud

MADISON/SUN PRAIRIE – Gerald "Jerry" Disrud, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 22, 2015. He was born in Madison on August 27, 1937, the son of Norman and Mabel (Gladem) Disrud. After graduating from Central High School in 1955, Jerry went on to work at Tipler Transfer for six months before enlisting in the U. S. Marine Corps. He met the love of his life, Connie Gavigan, and they were married on November 29, 1958. They raised their family in Madison, where Jerry worked at NCR for over 30 years, "doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that."

Jerry enjoyed hunting, golfing, reading for hours, playing cards, going to the casino, as well as taking trips with Connie. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, who will miss him and his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie; his children, Laurie (Rick) Ellie, Theresa (Stephen) McKenzie, and Ann (Rob) Hamilton; his nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan and Megan Ellie, David and Joey McKenzie, and Drew, Ty, Leah and Davis Hamilton; and his niece, Sharon Mullikin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Disrud; his sisters, Doris Disrud and Clarice Mullikin; his son, Tom; and his granddaughter, Carly Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the family for the charities of their choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., with Msgr. Michael Burke presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Thursday, and also from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road.
