Obituary
Madison – Arthur E. Meyer, age 86, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Art was born March 15, 1929 in the Township of Crystal Lake, Marquette County, the son of Elmer and Clara E. (Doms) Meyer.
Art graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1951 from the School of Commerce. He worked with Rennebohm Drug Stores, Montgomery Ward, Ace Hardware in Madison and Florida, Uncle Paul's Toys, East Madison Clinic and owned and operated Meyer Galleries and Framing with his wife until retirement in 1980. Art will always be remembered for his love of gardening and trips everywhere, as well as nurturing his many grandchildren and helping "when needed" in the family, as well as his generosity and hard work. He will be missed.
Art is survived by his wife, Catherine (Balsamo) Alexander whom he married in 1965, 50 years ago this June; step-sons, Ronald (Marlene) Alexander, Montello, Richard Alexander, Stoughton, step-daughter, Karen, nee Alexander (Richard) Rogers, Madison; sisters, Lorraine (Eugene) Brueggemann, Colorado, Frances (Wayne) Bloomer, Arkansas, Barbara (Gordon) King, Milwaukee and 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marjorie and Alyce and Lorraine; brothers, Ken and Eugene and a grandson, Jonathan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, with Msgr. Kenneth Fiedler presiding. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
