Obituary
MADISON- Katherine J. Knudson passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends at her home in Madison, WI.
She was born on April 13, 1953, in Janesville to Glen and Marjorie (Gregg) Knudson. She grew up on a dairy farm outside of Orfordville, graduated from Orfordville Parkview High School, and earned a BA from Milton College.
Kathy worked for the state of Wisconsin for 39 years, 23 of which were as Human Resources Director for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. While her vocation was human resources, her avocation was music. Kathy sang in the Milton College Choir, the Sanborn Singers, the Janesville Choral Union, the Blessed Sacrament Choir, smaller singing groups at Blessed Sacrament, and with the Dominican Festival Choir.
Kathy enjoyed golfing, traveling, and cooking. She was a life-long and long-suffering Cubs fan. She was blessed with a wonderful family and good friends. Some of her favorite memories were of golf trips to South Caroline, choir trips to Europe, and, most especially, time spent with her family, whether it was Disney World, the cottage in northern Wisconsin, or at the homes of her brothers and sisters.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: Karen (Dave) Parisey of LaCrosse; Gregg (Melody) of Evansville; Karol (Ken) Heller of Orfordville; Kris (Tom) DalSanto of S. Beloit, IL; and Jim of Cambria. She is further survived by and aunt, Jean Gregg; cousins, Eric Knudson and Cindy Alex; 20 nieces and nephews; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, located at 2131 Rowley Avenue in Madison, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. A luncheon at the church will follow the services.
In lieu flowers, contribution may be made to the Carbone Cancer Center at UW Hospital, Agrace HospiceCare, or Blessed Sacrament Church.
