Madison
Charlotte J. Quinlan, age 87, of Madison, passed away peacefully at Clare Bridge of Sun Prairie Memory Care on June 10, 2015. She was born February 17, 1928 in Madison, the daughter of James Martin and Lillian (Rose) Quinlan. Charlotte was a graduate of East High School and a longtime resident of Madison's east side. She worked for DEMCO in Deforest for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
Charlotte was a former speed skater who skated with notables Bill Carow and Pat Gibson Marshall under the tutelage of Fred Milverstadt. She later coached the Madison Speed Skating Club with Paul Mueller for many years while emphasizing technique and strategy. As a result, the MSSC produced many successful skaters who went on to become not only National Champions, but also Olympians winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the U.S.
Charlotte had a competitive nature about her, and loved playing and watching all sports with her family and friends. She played women's fast pitch softball for many years and was a part of several state championship teams. Her love for golf, volleyball, skating, football, baseball, and all sports was contagious. One of her favorite things to do was to cheer on her nieces and great-nephews at their activities and sporting events. She had an artistic side, and could be found at Tenney Park with her easel and water colors or sketchbook. She loved spending time outdoors in her yard and gardening.
Charlotte is survived by her siblings, James B. (Mary) Quinlan, Nancy Morgan, Richard (Faye) Quinlan and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virginia Zuelsdorf and a brother, William (Janice) Quinlan.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
