Connie Ryan

Madison – Connie F. Ryan, age 54, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on October 8, 1960 in Madison to the late Edward and Betty (Anderson) Ryan. She was a graduate of Madison East High School, class of 1978.

Connie worked several jobs throughout her life, including American Family Insurance, Great Lakes Higher Education, Transit Solutions and UW Health. But many may know her from Dorn’s True Value in the Northgate shopping center, where she worked for many years until the store closed.

She was a people person. Despite many health issues, Connie regularly volunteered at the Eagles Club, S.O.S. and was a special friend to “Smiley.” Connie had a true Irish sense of humor, and was proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a tough cookie and never, ever complained. Connie touched a lot of lives on Madison’s Northside and was well known in her old neighborhood, keeping many, many friends through the years.

She is survived by her siblings: Duane “Butch” (Connie) Ophime, Dennis (Jean) Ophime, Jane Ryan and Joseph “Joe” Ryan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and her two beloved dogs Blue and Cooper. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Nancy and JoAnne. Connie will be deeply missed by her many friends and relatives.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. with Monsignor Charles Schluter officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. The family invites family and friends to the Eagle’s Club, 2109 Bartillon Drive, Madison, for food and fellowship after the service.
