Stephen Josheff

Madison – Steve Josheff, beloved son of Vangel and Kalope (Lazar) Josheff, died peacefully on August 7, 2015.

Steve served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He loved life, liberty and the pursuit of a good argument–and usually had the last word. He had an unquenchable passion for opera and the Three Tenors. From a young age, he learned the art of inn-keeping from his father at the old Colonial Inn, and enjoyed a successful career in the tavern trade. Steve was founder and owner of the iconic Le Tigre Lounge, a Madison staple that was noted in the book “Bottom’s Up: A Toast to Wisconsin’s Historic Bars and Breweries.” Steve, like the songs on his jukebox, was classic charm. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and leaves behind his children: Anne, Patty, Van, Ray, Iris and Paul; seven grandchildren; his sister Luba (Gordon) and brother George; five nieces and nephews; and his lady friend Diane Molitor.
