Mark Buechner

MADISON- Mark Buechner, age 63, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on December 12, 1951, the son of Joseph and Hildegarde (Wagner) Buechner.

Mark was a Madison native, and was a proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin. He worked for many years at the State Lab of Hygiene, as well as in his own tax preparation business. He also volunteered his time with the community, serving as a board member for the Community Living Alliance and Access to Independence.

Everywhere he went, Mark made friends. People loved him for his kind spirit and his sense of humor. He didn't always say much, but he touched the lives of many people. From his fishing trips to Canada, to making music and pottery, to playing pool and poker with friends, to hanging out on his patio enjoying the flowers and hummingbirds, Mark appreciated every day he had. He was especially devoted to his girls - three daughters and three granddaughters, of whom he was immensely proud. Mark suffered courageously from a number of illnesses, but even when he was very sick in the hospital, he never missed an opportunity to brag about his girls to the nursing staff and doctors. He will be greatly missed by all.

Mark is survived by his daughters, Katie (Michael) David, Karen (Brian) Gropp, and Jenny Buechner, and their mother, Mary Dunn; granddaughters Adele Lena and Anna Kate Gropp, and Charlotte Joy David; sisters Barb Unger, Rose (Mike) Boucher; brothers Paul (Deb), Steve (Janet), and Pete (Cindy), sister-in-law Kris Wetzel and brother-in-law Greg Hans; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Michael and Karl, sister Mary Jo Hans, and nephew Matthew Hans.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road. Visitations will be held at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
