Theron Hatfield

Theron Sherwood "Jug" Hatfield went to be with his Lord Jesus on August 31, 2015, after a brief illness at UW Hospital.
He was born on January 27, 1936, in Bloom Township (WI) to Theron and Trixie Hatfield (Winger).
He graduated from West Lima High School in 1954, and while on leave from the Army he married the love of his life Dorothy Torgerson on December 15, 1956, and returned with her to Fort Richardson in Alaska. After finishing active duty, he returned to the Madison area and continued his employment with Oscar Mayer, where he worked for 35 years. Jug and Dorothy raised their family in DeForest and spent their retirement years in LaFarge.
Jug enjoyed the Packers, hunting, working on cars, and collecting salt & pepper shakers. He was active in the Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest & LaFarge United Methodist Church acting as a Vacation Bible School and Sunday School Teacher. He also served as a Cub Scout Leader for many years. He enjoyed getting together with his brothers and sister at their farms in Central Wisconsin. His pride and joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as his many nieces and nephews. Jug never met a stranger, shared joy and laughter with everyone he knew, and was always willing to help a friend. His family will always remember his gift of unconditional love.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; children Lyle & Laura Hatfield, Tim & Laura Hatfield, Angela & Keith Hoekman, Amy & David Pahl; grandchildren, Luke (Mikaela) & John (Nicole) Hatfield, Amy (Aaron) Grabowski, Karen Hoekman (friend Nate), Jared Pahl (friend Kate); and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Virgil (Lillian) and Ron Hatfield, and beloved nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and her husband Dorothy & Lavonne Nottestad, sister-in-law Barb Hatfield, daughter-in-law Jean Hatfield, and niece Debra Nottestad.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, with Pastor Luke Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
