James Welch

MADISON/WATERTOWN - James W. Welch, age 61, passed away at Agrace Hospice on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Jim was born on May 1, 1954 in Watertown, WI to William and Maxine Welch. He graduated from Watertown High and went on to UW Madison, attaining a degree in Geography. After college he went into the family business, CoMo Photo in Watertown. He was Photo Marketing Association Division President from 1994 to 1996 and Territorial Vice-President from 1996 to 1997. Jim later worked at the City of Madison Parking Utility for 10 years. He married the love of his life, Monika Marks, on June 28, 1980 in Pardeeville, WI. Jim enjoyed cooking, collecting vintage maps and traveling. A highlight was a road trip on Route 66 between Wisconsin and Las Vegas with Monika and the kids. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Jim is survived by his children, Alli (Kurt) Pedersen and Will Welch; grandchildren, Freya, Signe and Leif Pedersen; father, Bill Welch; sister, Kris (John) Coughlin; nephews, Dan (Kelli) Coughlin and Ryan (Alex) Coughlin; and grandnephews, Dylan, Lucas, and Kasey Max, who was born the same morning that Jim passed. Further survived by other nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by his wife, Monika; daughter, Abigail; mother, Maxine; and nephew, Sean Coughlin.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona. A gathering of friends and family will be held later that day in Madison.
