James Schwalbach

DEERFIELD
James "Jim" Schwalbach, age 82, passed away September 6, 2015 at his home in Madison in the company of his loving family. Born February 17, 1933 in Milwaukee, he moved to the Deerfield area in 1968 with his family. Jim and his wife Barbara were owners and operators of the transportation company that served the Deerfield and Cambridge communities. His inclination for fixing and tinkering with machines, along with the dedication of many remarkable bus drivers, ensured the school buses ran on time.

Jim and Barb took great pleasure in traveling the United States. Upon returning from a trip out west with their Camper Club, the couple detoured to Minocqua. From then on, the north woods became home. One of Jim and Barb's favorite recurring destinations was to Disneyworld, accompanied by their children and grandchildren. They adopted Florida as a second home, spending winters in the sun and summers exploring the Wisconsin wilderness.
Travels were regularly made with a cocker spaniel companion, most recently Max.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara; children, David (Mary Peterson), Peter (Connie), Judy Falter, Sandra (Gene) Dellinger; grandchildren, Dan (Marie), Kelsey, Hannah (Michael Melton), Allison Woodburn (Tony), Kari Jones (Derrick), and AJ; and brother, Jerry;. He is further survived by his great-grandchild, and most recent joy, Adri Ann Jones.

A private gathering among family members will be held on Saturday to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway Madison, WI 53711.
