LaVerne Stepanek

MADISON- LaVern C. "Bud" Stepanek, age 66, passed away on September 10, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born in Castle Rock on August 8, 1949, the son of Joseph and Ellen (Walker) Stepanek. He married Donna Treptow on June 27, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in LaValle.

Bud enjoyed his work in environmental services, where he loved interacting with the residents of the facilities that he worked at. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Madison. Bud loved the outdoors, doing puzzles, Eagles and candy. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his children, Pamela (Daniel) Jasper, and Steven J. (Bobbie Jo) Stepanek; his five grandchildren, Emma, Ryan, Noah, Lily and Danny; his two sisters, Bonnie (Ernie) Marshall and Connie Prochaska; and his many "adopted" family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his brother, James Stepanek; and a brother-in-law, Clete Prochaska.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Agrace HospiceCare, especially his nurse, Shannon Bailey, the staff at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pastor Gerry at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the staff at Ryan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2126 N. Sherman Ave., with the Rev. Gerry Kuhnke officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
