Herbert Carberry

Herbert Nicholas Carberry, 80, died October 11, 2015 at Larson House Assisted Living in Columbus. He was born August 30, 1935 in Lodi, WI to Robert and Marcella (Kanter) Carberry. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1953. In 1963 he moved to Phoenix, AZ and lived there until 2003 when he moved back to Lodi but left his heart in Arizona. He loved Arizona and was rarely seen without his cowboy hat.

His professional career was in the automotive industry. He worked for Schilling Chevrolet and Park Corner service station in Lodi, and Sears Automotive in Madison. In Phoenix he was body shop manager for a large Cadillac dealership and later with a Ford dealership.

Herb was part of the original volunteer crew that helped develop the golf course in Lodi. He became an avid golfer and has two hole in ones to his credit.

He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Miskulin, Mary (Tony) Bruno and Helen (Frank) Putirskis; a sister-in-law, Angelina Carberry; and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Floyd, a nephew, Michael and a brother-in-law, Joseph Miskulin.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family appreciates and thanks the Larson House staff for the exceptional care he received this past year and Heartland Hospice for assisting in his care these last few weeks.
