Obituary
Waunakee-Robert J. Coates, age 65, peacefully passed away at his cabin embraced by loved ones on October 19 2015. He was born on March 23, 1950 in Baraboo to Fred and Arlene (Hotchkiss) Coates.
Bob, a 1968 graduate of East High School, joined the Naval reserves and served as a Gunner’s Mate during the Vietnam War. He married Vicki Reed in 1971 and had 2 children. During his life Bob, known as a wonderful husband, son, father and friend, worked hard and enjoyed an early retirement from Oscar Mayer at 48.
Additionally, Bob enjoyed a lifelong love of deer hunting, including nearly 30 years on his property north of Pardeville. This is a love he shared with his father, passed on to his son and will surely be embraced by his grandsons for many years.
Bob is survived by mother, Arlene; his love of the past 26 years and wife, Connie (Clifcorn) Coates; children Mark (Jessica) and Kristin; step-children Tracy Clifcorn (Treasure) and Nathan Clifcorn (Melissa); 8 shared grandchildren Wesley, Lincoln, Phoenix, Kallia, Joseph, Otto, Liam and Marit; Brother Jim (Lori) Coates and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his Lexa Girl Dog. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave, Madison.
