Robert Hall

Robert (Bob) Everett Hall, D.V.M., PhD passed away on Oct 25 at Oakwood Village in Madison Wisconsin at the age of 91.

Bob was born on April 27, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa to Nellie and Roy C. Hall where he resided until graduating from high school. He briefly attended Augustana College in South Dakota, before enlisting in the Army for Service in World War 2. He served in the infantry in the 75th Army Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war he earned a Veterinary Medical degree from Iowa State University in 1950, where he met and married his wife Kathryn (Tokhiem) in 1949.
From 1949 - 1961, Bob practiced Veterinary Medicine in numerous mid-West locations and eventually came to the Madison Area (Crestwood). In 1961, Bob took a position as a Professor of Extension Veterinary Science with the University of Wisconsin in the Department of Veterinary Science, where he received a PHD in 1964. In his role, Bob specialized in parasitology research and traveled throughout Wisconsin as an educator for farmers, county agents, practicing Veterinarians and many others. He retired from the University in 1980.

Bob was very active at work and in his retirement years. He loved anything having to do with friends and family especially if the activities were outside. A few of his favorite activities included fishing, hunting, sports, golfing, bowling, genealogy, and travel.

Eventually Bob became afflicted with Macular Degeneration leaving him with just a small window of vision through the corner of 1 eye. He still enjoyed many of his favorite activities through use of many visual aids and enjoyed and appreciated life with a great sense of humor to the fullest throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Kathryn living at Oakwood Village in Madison. A son, David (Deborah) Hall living in Madison, a daughter Linda (Torben) Hall Winther living in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and another son: Robert (Bettie) Hall living in Madison. He is further survived by Kara, Nathan, Evan, Matt, Andy, Katie, Analisa and Tyler and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Jaxon and Davis.

Private service and memorial will be held with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Oakwood Village Foundation or Nature Conservancy.
