Richard Rothwell

VERONA - Richard L. "Dick" Rothwell, age 79, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015. Dick was born in Dodgeville, WI on July 14, 1936 to Roy and Victorine (Sullivan) Rothwell. He graduated from Linden High School. Dick joined in the US Air Force and was stationed in Texas where he was a clerk and also played baseball. Upon returning from the Air Force he continued to play baseball for Verona Home Talent for many years. He married Karen Brindley in Verona in 1971. Dick worked for 30+ years as a postal worker in Madison. Dick enjoyed golfing, bowling, raising grey hounds, listening to country music, and loved spending time with his family. Dick will be greatly missed.

Dick is survived by his wife Karen; children, Richard (Cindy), Arlene (Tony) Riccardi, Laurie Kraiss, Christopher (Jennifer), and Rebecca; grandchildren, Lyndsay Meisel, Briana Douglas, Kyle Titley, Julianna Riccardi, Joshua Kraiss, Wyatt Kraiss, Eve, Rayanna Counts, and Mikaelynn Risper; siblings, Jack (Dianne) of Madison, Eddie (Sylvia) of Huntsville, Ala, Dennis (Mary) of Monona, Judy Hannon of Madison, and Vicki (John) Harrington of Crystal Lake, IL. Further survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ann Bennett, Marilyn Yearous, and Julie Davis; brothers, Robert, Tom, Doug, and David "Donald"; their beloved pet, Rocky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, November 13, 2015 at ST. ANDREW CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 North Main Street, Verona, with Father William Vernon officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona and again from 10:00AM until time of Mass on Friday.
