Thomas Midthun

WAUNAKEE – Thomas "Mike" Midthun, age 65, passed away on November 11, 2015. He was born in Madison on October 7, 1950, the son of Thomas Myron and Carol Eunice (Johnson) Midthun. Tom attended Norway Grove Elementary School and graduated from DeForest High School before attending MATC.

He worked at Hamre Feeds for several years before joining his brothers in farming the family farm. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Stephenson, on September 19, 1970.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, spending time with his grandkids, and tending to the flowerbeds at his home after retirement. He was a charter member of Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church and a board member for the Township of Vienna Planning Committee.

Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol; his daughters, Amy (Matt) Wirtz and Angie (Tony) Midthun-Hensen; his five grandchildren, Chase and Grant Wirtz and Sydney, Natalie and Kylie Hensen; his siblings, Don (Cathy) Midthun, Doug (Leona) Midthun, David (Teresa) Midthun, and Darlene (Chip) Orrick; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dave Ringdahl and their family and friends for all of their support.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015, at NORWAY GROVE MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 820 River Road, DeForest, with the Rev. Dean Natterstad presiding. Burial will follow at Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, WINDSOR/DEFOREST CHAPEL, 6924 Lake Road and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday.
