Patricia Vilbrandt

Madison - Patricia G. "Pat" Vilbrandt passed away on Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015. Pat was born on March 30, 1930, to James Joseph and Frances Ann (Fisher) Kennedy in Westport. Pat was the 10th of 11 children, with older sisters Rosellen, Dorothy, and Ruth; older brothers Martin, Bernard, Donald, James, John, and Vincent; and younger brother Richard.

Pat was raised on the family farm and attended Catfish grade school and Edgewood High School. She trained as a lab technician at St. Mary's Hospital in Watertown. On January 2, 1954, she was married to William C. Vilbrandt at St. Bernard's Church in Madison. Together they raised seven children. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and spent many years participating in the fruitcake fundraiser and helping with the annual Country Fair.

Pat was a long time lab technician at Quisling Clinic, East Madison Clinic, Dean Clinic, Methodist Hospital, UW Hospitals and Mohs Surgery. While at UW Hospital she trained many of the Madison Firefighters, EMTs, physicians and physician's assistants in phlebotomy. Pat was also a volunteer EMT with the Waunakee Fire Department.

Pat was an avid Brewer, Badger, and Packer fan. She loved quilting and knitting. Her children and grandchildren were beneficiaries of many of her crafts. In later years, she also knitted caps for St. Mary's Hospital Infant ICU.

She is survived by her brother Richard (Joan) Winter Park, Florida; seven children: Mary Watrud (Bill Orth), Lodi; Patrick (Laurie), Seattle, Washington; Jean Buhler (Doug), East Lansing, Michigan; Carol Roe (Rich), Greenville; Mike (Brenda Lowe), Madison; Jim (Caroline), Halberstadt, Germany; Amy Brinkman (Dan), Pleasant Springs; grandchildren Ryan (Caytlin), Amanda (Brian Immel), and Emily Vilbrandt; David, Carly, and Erik Roe; Clayton Mork; James and Amalia Watrud; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Road, in Westport, at 11:00 am with Monsignor Gunn and Pat's nephew, Father Jay Poster presiding. Friends may call at church on Monday at 10:00 am until the time of the service.
