Gertrude Zellmer

MADISON – Gertrude E. “Gertie” Zellmer, age 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Gertie was born on August 27, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Paul and Elsa (Bracklo) Krober. On July 5, 1947, she married Arthur Zellmer in Milwaukee. In 1962 Art and Gertie discovered their true love of traveling and camping where they could enjoy the outdoors. Their love of traveling was passed on to their children and families. She loved sewing, crocheting, reading, swimming and gambling with her friends from Westshire Village.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Terry) McAdam of Illinois and Linda (Joe) Wuellner of Oregon; grandchildren, Brianna (Bud) Fugitt, Jason (Stephanie) McAdam, Andrea (Josh) Stebbins and Joseph (Theresa Kyriakopoulos) Yturriaga; 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister-in-law, Gloria; and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Heinz Krober; and her nephew, Mark Krober.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11 a.m., at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison. Pastor Dean Kirst will officiate the service. A visitation will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME from 9 a.m. until the time of service. An entombment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery in Brookfield, Wis. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 3 p.m.
