Dwaine Werner

Sun Prairie / Token Creek - Dwaine Werner, age 72, passed away on December 18, 2015, after a struggle with a rare form of Parkinson's called Corticobasal Ganglion Degeneration (CBGD).

Dwaine was born in the township of South Lancaster on June 3, 1943 to Fay and Emily Werner.

He served his country by joining the United States Air Force where he spent most of his enlistment overseas. After an honorable discharge he moved to Madison.

Dwaine married Debbra (Allen) on May 6, 1967 and raised two children, Paula and Derek.

He took a temporary job with Madison Gas & Electric until he was hired permanently where he spent the next 40 years. Dwaine was a working foreman/inspector at the time of his retirement in 2005. He served as Secretary to his IBEW Union and to the IBEW Retirees Club. He also served on the Windsor Conservancy Board. He took a job mowing grass at the Windsor Country Club, which he enjoyed very much.

Dwaine enjoyed years of traveling on his motorcycle, snowmobiling and hunting. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Catawba, riding ATVs and watching wildlife including deer, bear, wolves, bobcats and hunting deer. Most of all, he enjoyed his family in good times and in bad.

Dwaine is survived by his wife, Debbra, of 48 years; children Paula (Lenny) Werner Hein, Derek (Karrie) Werner; three grandchildren, Katlynn (Derek) Varney, Lauren and Adam Hein; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Varney; brother, Donovan (Carla) Werner; sister Sharon (Daniel) Graney; Aunt Lela Peterson; and many cousins.

Dwaine is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother (Dennis), grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, father-in-law and mother-in-law.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, with Pastor Ben Ehrets presiding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

Dwaine wanted to thank Dr. Dullie and Dr. Dent at UW Hospital, Dr. Leydon at Group Health and all the people at Agrace for their support and help, especially April, Cass, Lynn, Tabbie and the entire A Team, who have been a constant during this time. Thanks to Tom and Marliss Buelhman, Dennis and Sheila Stark, Gary Stafford, and Jim and Lona Connor for their regular visits and calls during this difficult time.
