William King

DeForest/Pardeeville-William (Bill) Charles King, age 72, passed away at home with family on December 20, 2015. Bill was born on August 25, 1943 to Mae (Bowers) King McKitrick (Stepdad – Verne McKitrick) and Frank King. Bill is survived by his sisters Nancy (Dan) Lawrence and Darlene Herrington. Bill met the love of his life, Joyce (Sand) King, in high school and they were married on October 6, 1962. In 53 years of traveling, laughs, friends, and marriage they had four kids: Dawn (Mark) Porter, Tracy King, Shannon (Amy) King, and Shane (Lynn) King. He was known for his big bear hugs and best handshakes to his grandkids: Krystal Porter, Brennan Porter, Samantha King, Sydney King, Dylan King, and Hunter King. Bill worked at Oscar Meyer for 38 years, ending his career as an electrician, retiring in 2000. After retiring, he worked at Portage Country Club where he made good use of his love for the outdoors as a groundskeeper for five years. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, curl, and a whole host of other outdoor activities and will miss all his buds on the “Brandy Trail.” The last few years he really enjoyed bird and critter watching from their home on the hill overlooking the lake.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, December 28th, 2015, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A private family service will be held at a later date.
