Martha Ederer

DEFOREST - Martha Amelia Ederer was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 2, 1936 and died peacefully at Agrace Hospice in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday, December 21, 2015. She was 79 years old. After being raised in Southern Indiana and attending nursing school in Louisville, Kentucky, she met the love of her life, Jim Ederer at a Square-Dance in New Albany, Indiana. Married for 56 years, she enjoyed her life as a loving mother and domestic engineer for her husband and family of five children and later 15 grandchildren. While relishing her family, she endured several surgeries due to arthritis, always emerging with a smile and often finding comfort in painting outdoor oil portraits. Martha’s grace was her concern for others as well as her smile. Her humor was contagious as was her love for ice-cream. She understood, better than most, the delicious advantages of a good garden, the joy of a good game of cribbage, and the wonderment of a drive to see the great outdoors. She was also a proud shareholder and fan of the Green Bay Packers. She also loved fishing.

She was preceded in death by her first born Amiee, and more recently, her son Michael Ederer, her brother Ted Venne, and her sister Mary Hollkamp. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jim Ederer and her four children, Ginny Harmes of Pardeeville, Wi, Barbara Sinsley (Jay) of Spartanburg, SC, Chris Ederer (Simone) of Pardeeville, Wi, Marty Ederer (Katie)of Baraboo, Wi, and 15 grandchildren, Whitney, Grant, and Gage Harmes, Harris and Haley Sinsley, Brittany and Garrett Ederer, Megan, Ashley, Marty, Oliver, Henry, Molly and Jerry Ederer, and Isabelle Ederer; brother, Charles Bernard of Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all dear to her heart.

A celebration and services to honor her life will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 South Main Street, in DeForest, Wi on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church on Monday. The burial, which will include the placement of the ashes of her son Michael Ederer with her, will follow later in the day at St. Johns Cemetery in Reedsburg, Wi.
