Edward Perkl

Oregon-Edward “Ed” C. Perkl, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born to Alice (Kolbeck) and Edward Perkl in Madison, WI on August 29, 1934. Ed married Virginia Higgins on August 31, 1963. They lived in Madison until 1976, when they moved to the Town of Oregon. Ed was in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955 as a jet mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He worked 42 years in construction and belonged to Local Union 464.

Ed spent a lot of time in the summer fishing and swimming the lakes of Madison and going to his grandfather’s farm near Pittsville, WI. He loved fishing, gardening, cutting wood, watching and feeding birds, and his cats. Ed enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and visiting with his children and grandchildren.

Edward is survived by his wife, Virginia Perkl; his children Larry (Pam) Perkl of Houston, TX, Bradley (Heather) Perkl of St. Paul, MN and LaRae Ann (Blaine) Smith of Verona, WI; grandchildren, Breeana, Logan, Zachary and Rose; and great-grandchild Aiden; his siblings, Jack, Mary, Donny and Bobby.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Ann; his parents; and brother, Roman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11am on Monday, January 11, 2016, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave, with Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until time of service.

Ed was an honorable, humble and gentle man who will be missed greatly by all.
