Lois Ann McDowell, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. She was born June 7, 1931 in Beloit, the daughter of Lee and Lucille (Brovich) Christofferson.
Lois was united in marriage to Thomas R. McDowell, who preceded her in death.
Lois enjoyed snowmobiling and deer hunting in her younger years. It recent years Lois loved to volunteer for Friends of the Library book sales.
Surviving Lois are two sons, Tom (Michelle) McDowell and Don (Barb) McDowell; nieces, Jeannie, Mary, Kathy and Joy; Nephews, Joe and Bill; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Swanson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Barbara Buzzel; sisters, Elaine Christofferson and Helen Swanson; a brother, Don Christofferson and a sister-in-law, Karen McDowell.
The family extends their appreciation to St. Mary’s Emergency staff and the staff of Karmenta Nursing Home for caring for Lois these past three years.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison with Father Joji Allam presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service.
