William. A. “Bill” Braun, 93, passed away on May 29, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare, surrounded by his family.
Born October 24, 1922 in Madison, the son of Jacob and Anna (Breitenbach) Braun, Bill attended St. Bernard’s Elementary School and graduated from East High School in 1940. He worked for a number of years on the family dairy farm before enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps in 1949, from which he received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force. Bill later worked in sales, selling life insurance and business and legal reports to businesses and law firms over the larger part of Wisconsin. Bill was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He served on the parish council and he also served as an usher.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor (Leonards) Braun; daughters, Constance Wheeler of Kenosha, and Cynthia (James) Hasz of Fitchburg; a son, Bob (Janine) Braun, of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, AnnaClaire and William Braun, Adam (Torrie) Hasz and Brandon Hasz; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
Bill’s family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff of Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care while at home and during his stay at the HospiceCare facility. In addition, the family would like to thank special neighbors and friends, Judy and Dan Johnson, the Mutch family and the Hahn family for their help, kindness, and friendship through the years. Special thanks also to St. Peter’s pastoral ministry for their prayers and concern for Bill during his time at Agrace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Avenue with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
