Susie Balousek

Verona – Susie Irene (Bartels) Balousek, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born in Richland Center, WI to Amos and Carrie (Milham) Bartels on November 12, 1943, the youngest of 11 children. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Balousek, on November 14, 1964. She loved taking daytrips with Richard, watching the birds in her backyard, quilting, and was an exceptional cook. Together they raised 5 children: Jackie (Ralph) Kalal, Jerry, Becky (Jim) Winkel, Brian (Staci) and Casey (Becky Powell).

She is further survived by her grandchildren: Kevin, Kimberly, Ralph, Camille, Caleb, Melizha, Austin, Mason and Boden; her sisters, Eloise Sieger and Kathleen (Marvin) Pursell; sister-in-law, Mary Bartels; and many nieces and nephews.

Susie is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, LeRoy Bartels, Virgil Bartels, Emily Kolman, Margy Mohr, Elizabeth Hendricksen, Maxine Vance, Junior Bartels and Evelyn Haight; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and six nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at ST. ANDREW’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 N. Main Street, Verona, with Father William Vernon presiding. A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at Church. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.
