Diane Gotzion

WINDSOR – Diane Elizabeth Gotzion, 72, of Windsor, Wis., passed away peacefully at her home in Windsor, Wis. after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Diane was born on August 30, 1943 in Ashland, Wis., daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Bauer) Geach. Diane’s family moved around during her younger years and she spent her high school years in Beloit. This is where she graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in 1961 and where she was voted Queen of the “Pop House”. After graduating she attended Madison Business College where she received a degree in accounting and met her future husband Gary. She met many lifelong friends at both Beloit Catholic High School and Madison Business College where she was affectionately knicknamed “Squirt”.

Diane was always a hard and dedicated worker. She enjoyed her work as an accountant and spent over 20 years at Cuna World Council before moving to the UW Athletic Department where she worked for another 20 years until retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church.

Diane always enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed traveling, and took many foreign trips visiting dozens of countries and 6 continents. During her travels she found the place of her dreams in Kona, Hawaii and loved it so much that she and Gary bought a house there. They returned there every winter and loved every minute of it. She also loved Christmas and held the extended family Christmas at her house for the last 10 years. She loved seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and traveling when she could to their many sports and activities. Diane had a special place in heart for all animals including her cats, dogs and horses, especially her numerous “Bimbo’s and Nick’s”.

Diane is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Gary of Windsor; daughter Toni Norwich of Madison; son Tim (Kimberly Swedal) of Windsor; sisters Jackie (Joeseph) McCormick of Grafton, Wis. and Barbara Geach of DeForest, Wis.; brother and sister in-laws, Richard (Bonnie) Gotzion of Colombus, Wis., James (Iga) Gotzion of Waunakee, Mary Ann (Gary) Olson of Madison, Julie (Russel) Rassmussen of Madison, Diane (Larry) Steffes of Silver Springs, MD, and John Ivanhov of Cottage Grove; loving grandchildren, Dak Norwich of Madison, Caz Marie Norwich of Chicago; Clayton Gotzion, Kayla Gotzion, Conlan Gotzion and Calvin Gotzion all of Windsor, WI: she was further survived by many nephews and nieces who she adored.

She was preceded in death her parents.

Visitation will be held at Ryan Funeral Home in DeForest on Thursday, June 9th from 4-7pm and at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church on Friday from 10am until the Funeral Mass held at 11am. A luncheon celebrating her life will be held at Lake Windsor Country Club following the Mass at approximately 12:30pm.
