Obituary
MADISON - Dorothymae Halberslaben, age 88, passed away on June 8, 2016. She was born July 24, 1927 in Poynette, the daughter of Lewis and Hazel (Vogts) Larson. She attended Poynette High School and was very active in band playing the coronet. She was married June 14, 1952 to Lyle Roman Halberslaben. She worked for Ray-O-Vac prior to marriage and stayed home with the kids when they were young, then became a grade school crossing guard for Madison schools so she could continue to be home with the children after school. She enjoyed embroidery, stamped cross stitch, camping, fishing and boating, as well as gardening and flower arranging. She was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the Madison Speed Skating Club. She bowled for many years on couples and women leagues. She was a member of the Stevens Point Garden Club, winning many awards with her home grown gladiolas.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Dave Paulsen); her son Gary (Holly) Halberslaben; grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Jennifer Halberslaben and step grandchildren, Todd Paulsen (Vanessa), Adam Paulsen (Lynette) Seth Paulsen (Tasha) and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, 2009, brother Clarence Larson, sister in law Lucille, (Anderson) Larson and her niece Kathryn (Larson) Babbitt.
Flowers are welcome or a donation to St Jude’s Children Hospital or the ASPCA.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Capitol Lakes and the MICU at St. Mary’s Hospital, especially nurses Bill, Sue and Brook and Dr. Eric.
