Obituary
Madison-Jon Dale Zuege, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born October 14, 1946 in Chicago IL to Betty and E. Dale Zuege. He married Ginni (Virginia) Drifke on April 12, 1969. Jon completed a plumbing apprenticeship and spent many years as a journeyman plumber. He worked over 30 years as Plumbing Inspector for the City of Madison, retiring in 2011. Jon was also plumbing inspector for the Village of Shorewood Hills and Town of Madison.
Jon spent many wonderful days with family and friends at their hideaway in Northern Wi where they fished, hunted, enjoyed the wildlife and ate meals cooked over an open fire. Jon enjoyed doing things with his family, road trips with Ginni and time on the water with Dale. Jon’s interests were many. He was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed a good game of euchre or poker. He looked forward to his annual fly-in fishing trip to Canada with Dale, Jim and Ben. Jon and family all shot competitive archery and enjoyed bow hunting, trap shooting and sporting clays together. Spring meant turkey hunting with Ginni, fall meant taking to the woods and fields with his son and beautiful labs Katie and Mia, and winter meant going to the local lanes for some friendship, bowling and beer. His proudest feat was shooting an 800 series. Jon enjoyed the good life.
Jon is survived by Ginni, his wife of 47 years and their son Dale (Liz) Zuege, his two brothers, Kurt (Gail) Zuege and Gary (Terri) Zuege, his brother-in-law James (Rita) Drifke, nieces and nephews: Carrie (Troy) Maser, Kelly Zuege, Samantha Drifke, Kari Drifke and Larry Drifke. And his black lab Patti.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd. Madison with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10am until the time of Mass.
