David Hartl

Madison-David Francis Hartl, age 57, died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at home.

He was born in Madison on June 19, 1958, the son of Carroll P. Hartl and Shirley (Hensel) Hartl.

He developed a severe seizure disorder when he was 9 months old, and when it became difficult to care for him at home, he went to live at Central Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled for many years. His family will always be grateful to the doctors and the wonderful staff at CWC for the loving care he received there. He moved into the community over 20 years ago into an assisted living apartment. He has been blessed with extremely capable and loving caregivers and his family can never thank them enough for their care and kindness to David. Our most heartfelt thanks to Pam Cox, Megan Lemke and Sid Nichols for always going the extra mile for David. It will always be remembered. In addition, a special thank you to Dr. William Schwab at the Northeast Clinic and Dr. Jack Jones at UW Hospital.

In spite of the challenges he faced, David thoroughly enjoyed life.

David is survived by his mother, his brother Tom (Sandra) Hartl, Madison, sisters Cathi Hartl (Paul Zuchowski), Kenmore, Washington and Sue (Dave) Batt, Stoughton, nieces Stephanie and Heather Zuchowski, and step-nieces Lenitha Trotter and Sally Temple. He was predeceased by his father, and his younger brother, Daniel.

A private service will be held at a later date.

“It is my spirit which is the enduring part of me and I will carry it with me into eternity.”
