Thomas Weigen

DeForest/Sun Prairie-Thomas “Tom” J. Weigen, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Country Terrace in Poynette. He was born on August 17, 1933, the son of James and Agnes (Hovey) Weigen. He was married May 5, 1956 to Janice Rortvedt at Bristol Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. He loved working with numbers both professionally and as a hobby. Tom was a passionate bowler who was recognized often for his high scores which included a 300 game. He was a sports fan, following the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, but his heart was with the Cubs. Tom and Jan enjoyed dancing on a regular basis. They also enjoyed many cruises and trips together. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Jeffrey (Jody), Jay and Todd; grandchildren, Eric (Jamie) and Neil (Jillian); sisters-in-law, Jackie (Cecil) Boyd and Carroll (Charles) Weigen; brothers-in-law, Charles (Joan) Rortvedt and Thomas (Gloria) Rortvedt; many nieces and nephews; and cousins, Carol Rogers, Mary Lois Alexander, Charlotte Thomas and John Weigen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James Weigen and Agnes (Hovey) Weigen; brothers, Charles Weigen and James Weigen Jr.; in laws, Alice and Ted Rortvedt; and nephew, Donald Rortvedt.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at BRISTOL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6835 North Hwy N, Sun Prairie with Rev. Rick Reiten presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A second visitation will be held from 3:00pm until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Bristol Lutheran Church in Tom’s memory.
